So you can ask what a sixty slide deck is asking you to approve, or which slide contains the number you half remember, without sitting through it. The file is not modified and the owner is not notified.

Never without. Ask which slide each claim came from. Slides carry meaning in charts, images, and diagram shapes that come back as objects rather than as text, so a summary built from text alone can miss the point of the deck.

Can I see what a slide looks like without opening the file? No prior practice needed

It can generate a preview image of any single page and hand you the image URL, which is the fastest way to check that a slide you had it build actually looks the way you meant. Google treats each thumbnail as an expensive read against your quota, so this is a spot check on a few slides rather than a way to render the whole deck.

What you end up with. A preview image of the specific slides you asked about, without opening the presentation.

Never without. Keep it to the slides you care about. Thumbnails count as expensive read requests, and asking for a preview of every page in a long deck is how you find the quota ceiling.

Turning my notes into an actual deck No prior practice needed

You can hand it markdown and get back a presentation, with the content split into slides on the divider and slide types picked from the shape of what you wrote: a title slide, bullets, a table, a quote, two columns. Give it your own rough outline rather than a blank prompt. The result lands in your Drive as a new file, so the only thing at stake is the time you spend reading it.

What you end up with. A first draft deck with the structure already built, instead of a blank presentation and an hour of formatting.

Never without. Read every slide before it goes in front of anyone. A generated deck will state specifics about your business with complete confidence and no source, and a slide is read out loud in a room where nobody stops to check it.

Can it fill out our template, for this client or for this month? Assumes some practice with AI

It copies the template as a Drive file first, which keeps the themes, masters, and layouts exactly as they are, then swaps the placeholder text in the copy. That is the same move whether it is a new client's pitch deck or this month's version of a deck you rebuild every month, and a fresh copy each cycle is what keeps last month's file intact. The trap is a short placeholder: replacing the string Name also hits Named, Rename, and the client called Nameless. Use markers nothing else in the deck can match, such as double braces. It can hand back a thumbnail of the filled slides so you can check the result without opening the file.

What you end up with. A finished copy of your standard deck with this client's or this month's details in it, the template still clean, and the previous copy untouched.

Never without. Read the filled copy end to end the first few times, confirm it copied rather than edited, and keep it out of any shared folder people present from directly. A replacement pass has no idea whether it hit the right words, and the failure to watch for on a repeating deck is not an awkward sentence, it is a month where the content went onto the wrong slide.

This is the operation to understand before you use it. Slides edits are addressed by object ID, so the assistant reads the presentation, works out which shape holds the figure, and replaces its contents. If it resolves the wrong object it overwrites something you meant to keep, and the connector offers no undo. Drive version history in the browser is the recovery route.

What you end up with. The current figures in the existing deck, with the design and the rest of the content untouched.

Never without. Never point an in place update at a deck other people are editing at the same time, and never at the only copy of something. Their edits change the objects underneath it, and the connector cannot roll a presentation back once it has written.

What we could not establish
  • The connector exposes no delete action and no way to move or reorder slides on their own. Structural changes go through the same batch update as everything else, so the boundary between editing a slide and removing one is a matter of what you asked for rather than which action was called.
  • There is no export action here, so a PDF or a PowerPoint version of the deck is a separate step through Drive.
  • Comments and suggestion mode are not exposed, so an assistant cannot leave a tracked suggestion for a person to accept, and it cannot roll a presentation back. Recovery from a bad edit is manual, through version history in the browser.
  • No time saving is claimed for any candidate on this page, because none has been measured.
